Commune de Chassiers

Welcome

Chassiers is a village with 1,008 inhabitants, stretching over 1,226 hectares between the Ligne and Landes Rivers. It lies between 200 and 605 metres above sea level (between 650 and 1984 feet) in a terraced landscape in the outlying foothills of the southern Cevennes. The village is surrounded by several authentic hamlets and has a rich heritage of remarkable monuments (church, castles, chapels, Renaissance-style houses and paved alleys).

Chassiers was awarded the “Village de Caractère” label in 2010, and is close to major tourist sites such as Vallon Pont d’Arc, the Ardèche Gorges and the Grotte Chauvet as well as Balazuc and Vogüé, which rank among France’s most beautiful villages. Not far is the medieval town of Largentière with its old silver mines, along with other villages, completing the tourist attraction of Chassiers.
